Lyrics

Any Way the Wind Blows

Have you ever broke down in a small town
about a million miles from nowhere?
Half the time I stay lost anyways,
anyhow I don't care I was hearing music in my head,
now I'm trying to remember how it goes
It goes any way the wind blows,
any way the winds blows me is fine
Any way the wind blows,
any way it blows, I don't mind
Have you ever sat down at a bar,
wondered where you are and how the hell you got there?
And the music plays, the peoples sway,
seems like a place I've been before,
I swear So I have a drink,
the waitress winks,
makes me think she knows something I don't know
She knows any way the wind blows
Guess I'll keep on ramblin',
keep traveling down this road
I'll just keep moving along
till there ain't nowhere else to go
Have you ever loaded up the car
just to see how far you go and back again?
And it all starts to run together,
all the names, all the places that you've been
And one thing stays the same,
this old world keeps on changing
so I'm told It goes
any way the wind blows,
any way the wind blows me is fine

I See You in Everything

I've seen the rain fall and watch the river rise
Flood the fields and overflow the banks
I've seen highways full of people rolling by Cars and trucks
and airplanes thundering through the sky
And I heard the train whistle call
I've seen it all Everyday something new,
it's crazy I don't know what it means,
all I'm saying is I see you in everything
I've seen the sunset turn the mountains into gold
I've watched the sky fill up with diamonds
I've seen little children play and watched as they grew old
and moved away with children of their own
And I heard the train whistle call
I've seen it all I've seen my mother cry,
standing at the door I heard her pray
take good care of him,
Lord Everyday something new,
it's crazy I don't know what it means,
all I'm saying is I see you in everything

Into the Looking Glass

It's hard to say where trouble begins,
but it's always creeping around
In the shadows and underneath the bed,
hanging out all over town
You might see it on somebody's face
right there behind a smile
Damned up tears that wait to break loose
and flood the countryside for miles
If I could step into the looking glass
and have a word with my reflection
Take a close inspection
See all the imperfection
Make a deep connection at last
If I could step into the looking glass
Promised myself not to go through life saying why didn't I think of that
I'll think of something if it kills me
write it down for a fact and stick it back
Save it for a rainy day when
I'm feeling low down and remember how it felt,
going through hell,
and need a little help off the ground
If I could step into the looking glass
Want to meet my fate before it gets too late
If I could step into the looking glass
and have a word with my reflection
Take a close inspection
See all the imperfection
Make a deep connection at last
Offer some protection or at least some real affection
Maybe even resurrection from the past
If I could step into the looking glass

More Like My Daddy

Guess the way I see this world should come as no surprise
After all, they always said I had his eyes
And that had to be the hardest fight I ever fought
The way he thought
He'd say anything worth doing,
son's worth doing right
And every now and then he'd take his own advice
Well it's hard to argue with a man that's seldom wrong
A little head strong and it's one thing I just can't explain
I'm getting more like my daddy everyday
I'm getting more like my daddy everyday
Catch myself saying all those things he used to say
Making the same mistakes he made
At least it feels that way, guess that's okay
I'm getting more like my daddy everyday
Well he'd tell the same old stories
till I knew 'em all by heart
People tell me all the time,
can't tell you two apart
Never thought about it much,
those things he passed along till he was gone
The way he thought and the way he walked
and all those things that linger on
I'm getting more like my daddy everyday
Catch myself saying all those things he used to say
Making the same mistakes he made
Sometimes it feels that way, well that's okay
I'm getting more like my daddy everyday

Waitin' on the Lord

This old world's full of trouble and pain
The Lord's gonna rescue me
Weather man calling for a hurricane
The Lord's gonna rescue me
I'm waiting I'm waiting
Waiting on the Lord to rescue me
Don't need a boat, don't need a plane
The Lord's gonna rescue me
Ain't worried too much 'bout a little rain
The Lord's gonna rescue me
I'm waiting, I'm waiting
Waiting on the Lord to rescue me
I'm waiting, I'm waiting
Hoping He's gonna get through to me
You can call me crazy,
but I believe The Lord's gonna rescue me
One of these days
He's gonna set me free
The Lord's gonna rescue me
I saw that water bust through the dam
The Lord's gonna rescue me
Good thing the Lord knows where I am
The Lord's gonna rescue me
Waiting on the Lord to rescue me

Walkin' Wounded

We might not be so different
We might be a lot alike
and tell the very same story,
you and me,
we just might
So stop me if you've heard this one before
Stop me any time you like
They call me the walking wounded
I've got the scars to prove it
Been pushed around 'bout as much as a man can bear
Won't you say a prayer,
say a prayer for the walking wounded
I don't know much of nothing
All I know is what I see
I'm just proud to be around,
standing on my feet
I'm just glad to be alive after the way you treated me
and they call me the walking wounded
Anything you throw my way,
I've seen it all before
Any time, anywhere you find trouble knocking at your door
Thought I'd given up a time or two,
but I keep hanging round for more
And they call me the walking wounded

Jerusalem Light

On a lonesome, Sunday afternoon,
I got up then I laid back down
I needed a friend I could talk to Someone
I could put my arms around
'Cause lately I've been burning both ends,
tossing and turning at night
I can't keep up with all the places
I've been People think
I must be doing alright
but they don't know what
I feel inside
That I'm praying for Jerusalem Light
Jerusalem Light
Watch over me now in these troubled times
Jerusalem Light
Jerusalem Light
Won't you shine through my window tonight
Most days I get along fairly well
It only takes a prayer, or two
At least that's what
I keep telling myself I can't complain,
but I still do
Maybe a change is coming soon
and I'm praying for Jerusalem Light
Will I see you in the stars?
Could you be somewhere deep in my heart?
Jerusalem Light

Life in a Day at the Races

He just got paid, he owes the rent
One bet, or two won't make a dent
He might see the boys down at the bar
They're not that far from the dreams he chases
He reads the daily forms, you know
Goes to the track and lays down his dough
He picks the dark horse, it's Pride & Joy
Oh boy, it's life in a day at the races
And the winners keep winning and the losers stay lost
And they rarely if ever change places
And the wages at stake barely cover the costs
in most cases for life in a day at the races
He watches the gate, checks the numbers and stares
But the pay window lady just gives him the air
One more margarita can't do much harm
It's windy and warm as the fillies run though their paces Run
He makes a big splash in town when he wins
Buying the rounds of drinks for his friends
Well a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
to help see him through life in a day at the races

- Bennet, RM

Jump through the Window

Sometimes I get so broken hearted,
feeling low down and I don't why
Some days, don't even get me started,
or I just might break down and cry
I keep on digging myself a deeper hole
Must believe I'm going somewhere
And it's cold and dark the deeper I go
Almost afraid I might get scared down there
Think I'll jump through the window
Maybe hop an old freight train
Run away and join the circus
Or maybe I'll just fade away
Think I'll jump through the window
Somewhere between ignorance and bliss is where I find myself today
Momma told me there'd be days like this
when it's hard to find a good reason to stay
Think I'll jump through the window
And it feels like it might be the right time to do it Lord,
somebody please won't you help me through it?
Think I'll jump through the window

When the Smoke Clears

The old house stood abandoned,
slowly tumbling down
People said it's dangerous,
this old house to be around
And one day, it finally burned to the ground
And it only took a single flame,
but nobody cared and nobody came,
and no one could find a soul to blame
I must have started losing her,
don't know exactly when
She was on the phone,
always gone,
said she was hanging out with friends
And one day, she never came home again
And it only took a single flame
She was over me and I felt the same
and no one could find a single soul to blame
And when the smoke clears
and the fires have burned away
When it's time to sweep out the ashes of the day
When the storms have passed
and a brighter day appears
and there's no more tears to cry when the smoke clears
